Moment of Truth

When I first spiritually awakened, I thought I had to strip myself of anything “worldly” to be truly aligned with God. I believed if I cared about my physical appearance, I was vain.  I believed true humility meant detaching from placing value on looking a certain way.

So, I let go of it all—my beauty routine, my fragrance collection, even the small things I previously couldn’t live without I cast away into the superficial abyss. At first, it felt like surrender. But over time, I started feeling… off. It wasn’t peace I was experiencing. It was neglect—of my body, my confidence, and my health.

And then it hit me: Awakening in the spirit isn’t dying in the flesh. It’s the first time your flesh actually gets to live.

If I believe my body is a vessel-just a tool for God’s use-why would I not value it? If I am a reflection of Him, why wouldn’t I treat myself as such? I had to realize my appearance wasn’t about vanity—it was about alignment.

So, I started integrating beauty, skin, health and all around self-love into my spiritual practice. And let me tell you—you are out of alignment when you see your physical appearance through a negative lens. Aligning inside and out, only allows others to see your light even clearer.

Now I see my health and beauty as a gift from God—a way to honor my temple, show up as my best self, and feel good in my skin while I walk this divine path.

So with out further ado, here are some of must-haves to keep my light glowing inside and out.

My Beauty Must-Haves

(These are the products I love, trust, and use regularly.)

Skincare to Let Your Soul Glow

Taking care of my skin became essential—the skin is the largest organ of the body, treat it with care.

The pillar of my skincare essentials. I prefer the Aloe & Rosewater one, but they are all great. It depends on your skins needs.

I don’t use foundation and concealer anymore. Too time consuming. But this product gives me flawless looking skin and an instant glow. It really is hydrating and keeps my skin moisturized. I use Medium to Dark.

I like things very simple. Making sure I go to bed with a clean face is a must. These come in so hand when I’m feeling lazy. They are super gentle and remove makeup so well.

My Sweet Aroma Must-Haves

I love getting the compliment-“You smell amazing.” Knowing you not only look good but also have a pleasing aroma is a direct reflection of being in alignment. These little things make a big difference.

My go-to perfume for years. It is super affordable and after all these years I still get so many compliments when I wear it.

Don’t tell anyone about this one…this is my secret weapon. Just a little goes a long way. My fave brand. They have a lot of great scents to choose from.

Since I don’t wear expensive fragrances, I like to layer my scents. I pair these together and the aroma leaves a trail.

Hygiene is Heavenly—Body Care Must-Haves

A big part of my awakening was realizing that God cares about my whole being—including my body.

This may seem like an odd product for hygiene, but this makes you smell good from the inside out. I put it in my water or my green juices in the morning and it keeps you fresh.

I discovered I was not getting as clean as I thought with a standard washcloth. I switched to a Japanese washcloth and it changed the game. I’ve tried others but this one is the best.

This product is a must for my feet. In between pedicures it’s a life saver. It is by far one of the most amazing products ever.

Haircare is a Spiritual Practice

When I first awakened, I shaved my hair off. These are my Holy Grail products for growing it back and keeping it healthy.

My fave blow dryer. I rarely blow dry my hair but when I do, I am so glad they invented this…I don’t have the coordination it takes to use a standard blow dryer and a brush at the same time. side note I really want to try the Rev Pro Suction blow dryer but I can’t bring myself to spend that much on a blow dryer, but it looks amazing…let me know in the comments if you’ve tried one.

Design Essential Almond Butter Conditioner My favorite conditioner. I love how it makes my hair feel. I have a lot of really thick hair so I also love it comes in this big jar so I don’t feel guilty about being heavy handed with it.

A light protein treatment I use between protective styling my natural hair, it always gets my natural curl pattern back popping.

Oral Hygiene-for my Mouth is my Sword

Leave it to my brutally honest mother during my darkest hour to point out my teeth weren’t as white. But these products have everyone, even my hygienist, asking how I get my teeth so white.

My all time fave mouthwash. I love it so much.  I prefer the Dazzling White or the Healthy Gums Mint. Just makes my mouth feel cleaner and fresher.

I have tried several different whitening products and these are hands down the best ever and not as expensive has some of the more popular brands. I’ve only the used the Strawberry flavor.

I use this for a variety of things: cooking, hair, hygiene etc. But it’s best used for oil pulling, if you haven’t tried it before it is worth a try. It keeps my teeth white and my breath fresher than ever before.

The Lord’s Temple

If you’ve ever felt guilty for valuing your physical beauty and investing in your appearance-DON’T! The more aligned you are spiritually, the more you’ll feel free to show up fully in every way—including with your physical appearance. As above so below, as within so without.

This isn’t about vanity—it’s about honoring yourself as God’s creation. It’s about feeling good in your skin, confident in your presence, and worthy of being seen. Beauty is a gift from God. Love the giver but be grateful for the gift.

You are a temple. Treat yourself like one.
