You've Been Reading It All Wrong
The Bible is one of the most misunderstood books in history.
People misinterpret it, not because they lack intelligence, but because they don’t realize how deeply religion has shaped their perception. During biblical times, people didn’t have the freedom to worship however they pleased. Worship was tied to culture, law, and societal norms. That’s why the Bible is filled with temple descriptions, sacrificial laws, and priestly guidelines—because that was life back then.
The problem is, we’ve carried that lens into modern times and tried to apply ancient customs directly to our lives, missing the bigger picture. Once you strip away the cultural and legalistic layers, what’s left? A divine instruction manual for life, written in a way that made sense to the people of that time.
The Bible Was Written in Code
Here’s the part most people don’t realize: The Bible wasn’t meant to be understood by everyone at face value. Even today, it requires a real relationship with God to grasp its deeper meaning. Without that, you’ll only see words on a page—stories about ancient people doing ancient things. But if you seek understanding, the book starts revealing itself to you.
That’s why Jesus often said, “He who has ears, let him hear.” The truth was hidden in plain sight, but only those who were spiritually open could understand it.
And there was a reason for that.
Back then, speaking certain truths could get you killed. Believing in Jesus alone was dangerous, let alone claiming he was the Son of God. So, messages had to be coded—written in parables, metaphors, and symbolic language that only those who were meant to understand would grasp.
A Modern-Day Example
The Holy Spirit once gave me an analogy that made this crystal clear.
Imagine finding an old journal written by a slave, filled with coded language to protect the writer’s message. Suppose it said:
“We ran through a deep, dark wilderness, chased by that white devil and his evil companion. They sniffed us out in the woods, but we hid until we reached the Underground Railroad and received our ticket to freedom.”
Now, if someone from a completely different time period read this literally, they might assume the writer was talking about a demonic creature, a train, and an actual ticket. But we know that’s not what it meant at all. The “white devil” was the slave master. The “Underground Railroad” wasn’t a train—it was a secret network leading to freedom.
This is exactly how the Bible works. So much of it is metaphor, symbolism, and coded language meant for the people of that time. Yet, over the years, we’ve taken many of these writings at face value, stripping them of their depth and original meaning.
The Bible is a Mirror
The Bible is more than just an old religious book. It’s a reflection of humanity, designed to lead us back to God. But if you only read it on the surface level, you’ll miss the real message.
“Seek and you shall find.” That’s the key. The more you seek, the more will be revealed to you. The Bible wasn’t written to be read like any other book—it was meant to unfold as you grow, to speak to you differently in different seasons of your life.
They tricked you into thinking it was just about rules, history, and religion. But in reality? It’s a guide to discovering who you truly are.
And once you see it for what it really is, you’ll never read it the same way again.
